“When a person realises he has been deeply heard, his eyes moisten. I think in some real sense he is weeping for joy. It is as though he were saying, "Thank God, somebody heard me. Someone knows what it's like to be me.”
― Carl R. Rogers
Founder of the Person Centred Approach
Inspired by the work of Carl Rogers and the principles of Person-Centred therapy, my approach emphasises the importance of genuine connection, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. This therapy recognises the influence of societal structures and advocates for questioning traditional power dynamics, fostering equality within our therapeutic relationship. Together, we’ll explore how societal pressures and expectations impact your experiences and empower you to reclaim your voice. Ultimately, healing is both a personal journey and a communal one, where the importance of community and social justice is central.
In my work as a Person-Centred therapist, I aim to create a safe, empathetic space where you feel truly heard and understood. Person-Centred theory denotes how many challenges, such as anxiety or depression, often stem from internal conflicts—between who you think you should be and who you truly are. Through our therapeutic relationship, we can gently explore these layers, helping you embrace your authentic self with greater compassion and clarity.
Each person brings a unique set of experiences, values, and struggles to therapy. My role is not to offer advice but to walk alongside you, helping you uncover your own insights and strengths. Whether you're navigating life transitions, exploring your identity, or processing past trauma, we’ll work at your pace to find what feels right for you.
I work holistically, recognising that your experiences are influenced by family, culture, relationships, and societal pressures. This approach allows us to address not just the symptoms but the root causes of what’s holding you back, empowering you to move forward in alignment with your values.
Therapy doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. Laughter is as welcome as are tears. Your whole self is welcome in my room - whatever form that comes in.
